Tips to keep your knives rust-free
Rust can develop over a short span of time and of the rust’s favorite victim is something which we oftentimes use in the kitchen – our knives. Because of this, we have listed down several tips on how to handle kitchenware rusting. Follow these steps and you are sure to have a clean kitchen to facilitate your healthy living.
1. Always clean and wash your knife after using. The high carbon content in our knives which is responsible for keeping them sharp for over a long time is also the same element which could make knives prone to rust. After slicing your favorite fruits, avoid leaving the knife unwashed. The fruit juice left on the blades is also factors which could help facilitate the development of rust. Keep your knives rust-free by washing them immediately right after use.
2. Avoid storing your knives in a sheath. While most owners’ instinct is to place their knives inside sheaths for security, such practice can help develop rust. The reason for this is that moisture is contained and confined inside the sheaths while resting on the knife blade for long period of time causing corrosion and therefore, rusting.
3. Use natural rust removers. You don’t have to do this everyday. A simple cleaning activity such as washing
your knives with soap and water every after use is enough to keep your knives clean and rust-free on a day to day basis. However, if you have extra time, take a few minutes to apply natural anti-rust liquid on the blades of your knives. Doing so will keep your knives rust-free and sharp for a long time. You don’t need to worry about too much about the proper usage. Just use a dry cloth to wipe the liquid onto the knife blade. Also, natural rust removers are not only proven effective. They are also proven to be safe and harmless not just to users but to the environment as well.
Follow the above tips and you are sure to have clean and rust-free utensils. Keep your kitchenware away from rust from now on and have healthy and safe meals everyday!
