Going vintage: Reviving your car and making it rust-free

Vintage has always been “cool” and fashionable. If you are currently on a tight budget and getting your dream car seems quite impossible, maybe it’s about the time that you ask permission from Grandpa and take the car which has long been in the garage out for some test drive. Of course, before you get the glamour of a vintage car, many things just have to be done including rust removal. Here are easy tips for quick rust removal tips.

1. Develop a habit of inspecting your car regularly. Rust spots are easier to repair than big and long-time rust. All you need is a complete set of tools and you can now proceed to doing a simple rust removal procedure.

2. You need to find the rust spots and prepare them for a treatment. Use coarse sandpaper or a wire brush to remove the rust from the affected area. Make sure you take the necessary precautions when doing so.

3. Scrape rust and lose paint. You may use your trusted rust stain remover when doing so for better results. Use clean cloth to wipe the area.

4. Get a good paint sample on all sides of the area by using coarse sandpaper. After reaching the unaffected paint, clean the area by brushing the dust away.

5. Protect the unaffected area from paint and putty by taping off.

6. Smoothen the affected area by applying glazing putty on it. This process will also help fill in scratches and pits and make the paint look even. Let it dry afterwards.

7. Use the identification plate found under your car’s hood or a paint chip to get the exact sample of your car’s color. Use this sample when purchasing paint and primer in your nearest car shop.

8. The next thing to do is to apply the primer. Let it dry afterwards then apply a fresh coat of paint. When applying, do so very carefully and smoothly and blend it the best way that you can to achieve a good finish.

9. When the paint is dry, it’s time to polish the affected area.

10. Always check your wheel wells and your fenders – these are two of the most rust-prone areas of your car.

We use our kitchen knives to make cooking easier and faster in order to serve the most delicious food we can prepare to your family. And because we use our knives in most of our food preparation, we might as well do everything we can to remove rust from it not just for safety purposes but more so for efficiency and convenience as well. Here are easy tips to remove rust from your pocket knives.

  1. The first thing to do is to remove dirt. Make sure that you remover grease and any lint. You may use wooden toothpicks, soft rags or cloths, olds soft-brushed brushes and cotton tipped swabs when doing so. Always use these tools with non-drying oil.
  2. After cleaning the knives, it’s time to remove the rust. Rust can be carefully removed by scraping away the rust spot with the tip of another sharp knife. Be very careful and thorough when doing this process. You could be hurt easily when not properly observing precautions.   3. Re-sharpen your knife. First, you need to hold the knife between a 10” – 15” angle from your sharpening stone. Once again, be very cautious when doing this process. Start stroking the blade like you were shaving a thing layer from the stone. Repeat this motion starting at the heel all the way to the tip. Repeat this process on the other side of the blade.
  4. Clean the handles and the blade. Using your favorite liquid cleaner, wipe the blades and handles using a soft cloth. You may also use cotton-tipped swabs or toothpicks to clean the interiors of your knives. When you’re using pipe cleaners, make sure you do not scratch the surface with the wire core.
  5. After successfully cleaning your knives, ensure that they stay rust free and clean by providing proper storage. Experts highly encourage knife storage in vinyl rolls. Knife rolls are also perfect for transporting your knives anywhere.
