Highly-acclaimed fashionista Sarah Jessica Parker wants to help save the planet by giving up her comfy car for a fun train ride. The “Sex and the City” star who is also known to be thee first lady of fashion willingly took the train for the inauguration event all the way from Manhattan to Washington D.C. Last week. It was said that Parker sure appreciated the “lure” of vintage. The even better part is that she wasn’t only fascinated about the vintage appeal of the rails but also of its great environmental benefits over automobiles and airplanes.
Fashion’s First Lady doesn’t only care about the city but about the whole planet.
Apart from celebrities giving up their vehicles for the train, the spotlight was on the Green Inaugural Ball. Almost every element at the ball was aimed at saving the planet – from the natural soy candles, carbon offsets for purchase, organic food and green cleaning products like earth-friendly carpet cleaners used for the entire evening. Even the train which took visitors including Ms. Parker to the ball delighted the Green Ball party planners. The pick up point was based on its proximity to public transit. It encouraged all guests to make use of the train instead of personal vehicles or planes.
While it is true that one person taking the train from NY to Washington D.C. may seem very unlikely to make a green contribution. If you try to think of the millions of people attending the ball with most of them travelling with their own cars or plane tickets, one single soul taking the train can make a big difference.
