Cockroaches are a big NO in the kitchen. Restaurants know that. Nevertheless, many of them still allowed those critters to go free in their service areas. And so, as a result, hundreds of them were closed.
Late last year, a restaurant in St. Pete Beach in Florida – The Salty Rim – joined the list of those shut down food establishments. But, it later reopened with the owner stating that they have addressed and resolved the issues the health inspectors determined.
Recently though, the restaurant was closed again. And this time, a health inspector listed even more violations of it.
The inspection in the said food establishment took place on February 17, 2014. It discovered a total of 27 violations of the place. Included in those violations were operating with an expired license, touching food with bare hands and servicing with a roach activity in the cook’s line. Two of those crawlies were also found inside the soap dispenser of the restaurant.
A follow-up inspection decreased the place’s violations to six. And that allowed The Salty Rim to re-open again.
