There are several species of pest that could plague a house or any other type of residence. However, for one student housing in Amherst, New York, it’s the cockroaches that were troubling the student residents.
Tenants of the University Village on Sweet Home Road said that the crawlies have been a constant problem in the complex since the start of the school year. A number of them shared that they’ve even experienced waking up with the roaches crawling on them.
The insects were said roaming the building at night from one apartment to another via electric outlets, smoke alarms and air vents. And to keep those critters away from them, students had to think of tricks like sleeping with a flashlight on their bedside or keeping their things in a zipped bag.
According to one resident named Jennifer Banks Ruffin, she has been notifying the management since last September. And though an exterminator had consistently visited the building in the past, he hadn’t shown up in a month.

But inside, students from the University at Buffalo say they’re sharing their apartments with something not advertised: cockroaches.
Resident Tanner Merchant said, “The first night that we were here my one roommate came up and he couldn’t move in yet and he had to sleep on the couch. He said he woke up in the middle of the night and they were a few crawling on him.”
