How To Select an LCD TV Wall Mount
You've bought your family a new LCD television that you want to wall mount. But how do you know what is the best mount for what you want? The following article lists some things to pay attention to when shopping for an LCD TV bracket.
At one time, each television and wall mount manufacturer used their own set up, and because of that it was harder to find out which wall mount matched what television. In contrast, now, all manufacturers have agreed on a core setup which permits consumers to buy universal TV wall mounts. This not only will save you time and money, but the pre drilled holes at the back of the newer TVs make installing them a great deal less difficult than it was before.
Once you get your run of the mill universal TV mount kit, you'll find brackets that go on the back of the TV and a plate that goes on the wall. The TV wall mounts are made to fit the pre drilled holes that are in the back of the TV.
Now, even though it's a universal mounting kit in its hardware, there are mount choices available that you're going to want to look at prior to investing in one. As an example, if you are in the market for an overall clean look, you need to go with the basic, standard mount. The standard mount will keep the TV display within one inch of the wall. Keep in mind, however, with this kind, the TV display cannot be tilted at all so you must be careful about where you mount it on the wall, being sure to consider where you would like the prime viewing area to be.
If you think that you may want to change the television's angle, then you are going to want to get a tilt wall mount. The style is much the same as the other model, but the TV display is affixed a little further from the wall. The extra space lets the TV display be tilted and adjusted. The tilt's degree is going to vary, depending on the model and make of the wall mount.
If you decide on the tilt model you need to think about ways the mount moves. Some tilt mounts can be moved with only your hand due to the fact that a ratchet system moves it. There are additional models that are going to require a tool to adjust the TV display's angle. If you think you're going to be adjusting the TV every so often, it may be worth the added expense to buy the ratchet system for easiness and convenience of the movement.
If you prefer the ability to move around the room and not sit on the very same spot on the sofa each time you watch TV, you might want to opt for a TV wall mount that allows the TV to be pulled away from the wall and swiveled and tilted for almost unlimited positions. These are called cantilever wall brackets.
So, when you're shopping for wall brackets for your TV, make certain that you look at each area the television will be viewed from so you can buy the one that is going to work very best for your situation.
